Different Type Of Animation

1* Drawing Animation

Drawing animation is a process of producing images that show a motion object. It needs to be drawn one by one.

Examples : Snow White & Seven Dwarfs

2* Model Animation

Model animation can also be called as (stop-motion). It uses a model that we made from clay or puppet to be animated. Character will be shot from frame by frame each time animator move the character, so a motion frame will appear to show a real motion picture.

Examples : Chicken Run

3* Computer Animation

Computer animation is a computer application in producing animation. There are two categories of computer animation.

i ) Computer-assisted Animation
Normally, we refer to the Two Dimension system which used computer to process traditional drawing animation.

ii) Producing Computer Animation
It is a 3 Dimension, where we build all objects and character with the computer assistance.

Examples : Toy Story & Final Fantasy & Finding Nemo

4* Cut-Out-Animation
Cut out animation is the easiest method of animation ! Cardboard is needed like a 'wayang kulit'.

Examples : South Park

5* Taking screen shot

We also call it as Rotoscope. This technique uses actor to act. Animator will shoot picture from one frame to another. Animator will draw he image by tracing the recorded action

Examples : Beauty and the Beast

6*Pixilation
The term pixilation is also used more generally to mean the animation of any real object--as opposed to puppets or models--photographed frame by frame to achieve unusual effects of motion.

pixilation is a technique that closely borders on live-action practice, although it clearly falls within the real of animation. The pixilation animator shoots "live" objects----essentially, people----frame by frame

Examples : The secret adventures of Tom Thumb.

7* Mixed Media Animation

The pioneer of mixed media animation is George Melees in 1990s.

Every frame was treated digitally to blend the lighting of animation tonally with the live material

Example : Who Framed Roger Rabbit , Space Jam and Avatar.

History of Animation

Some of the earliest trials of animation production are :

1. The mural aged 2000 BC by Egyptian shows two wrestlers fight in many different ways.

2. Eight-legged ox shows that it is moving in the Mural in Spain.

1824 - Thaumatrope has bird in one part of the disk and a cage on the other.
When we spin the disk, viewer will think that bird is in the cage.

1831 - Walt Disney made a phenakistoscope demonstration.

1860 - By spinning the zoetrope cylinder watchers can see the acrobat is jumping
through hula-hoop

Definition of Animation

Animation is the rapid display of a sequence of images of 2-D or 3-D artwork or model positions in order to create an illusion of movement.

Traditionally, animation can be defined as a process of producing images that show a motion object and then we can play the image in a fast mode.

The bouncing ball animation (below) consists of these 6 frames.

This animation moves at 10 frames per second.
